Across Seminole County, football players are beginning to be noticed by some impressive colleges and universities throughout the country. Two popular high schools in the county are breeding some of the professional athletes of tomorrow. After speaking with a few of the athletes, it became evident how humble and hardworking these young men are.

Lake Mary’s roster has some unique players including Braeden Marshall, Gunnar Smith, and Rocco Underwood. Braeden Marshall, 10th grade, has already received an offer from Florida Atlantic University and universities like Penn State, University of South Florida, University of Central Florida, and University of Pittsburgh have shown interest in him.  “It feels good but I remain humble.” Marshall says regarding receiving his first offer. “I’d like to be committed going into my senior year and hopefully an offer from my dream school comes. I just have to be patient,” Marshall explained. Quarterback, Gunnar Smith, has received offers from two ivy leagues, Harvard University and Columbia University. 6 star long snapper and tight end Rocco Underwood received offers from University of Alabama, Florida Atlantic University, University of Florida and more. “It’s a good feeling,” Rocco said about receiving these offers during an interview with Wide World Sports Radio Network. Underwood has committed to the University of Florida and will be starting there in the fall of 2021. “There’s a legacy at Florida with me and my family,” Rocco also explained in the interview when asked how he made the decision to commit to UF.

Seminole High School’s roster is also filled with extremely talented players who also were able to win the 8A FHSAA Football State Championship. Seminole Quarterback, Timmy McClain received 17 offers including University of Kentucky, University of Central Florida, University of Coastal Carolina, University of South Florida and more. McClain ended up committing to the University of South Florida. Wide Receiver Jimmy Horn had offers from the University of South Florida, University of Georgia, University of Tennessee and more. Horn decided to join his teammate Timmy at USF and the two will be starting there in the fall of 2021. Twins, JaCari and DeMari Henderson have shown their remarkable talent in basketball over the past few years and now in football as well. The twins have received 9 offers including University of Miami, Florida State University, Penn State, Georgia Tech and University of South Florida.

With over 50 offers coming into Seminole County, it is crystal clear that local high schools are coaching some real talent that everyone should keep an eye out for these upcoming athletes in the years to come.
